NICHOLAS "SORU" NAJM
Culture Shock Ottawa
Born and raised in Ottawa, Nick is of Lebanese origin, and gains his innermost qualities from his parents, whom he considers his biggest inspiration. His desire and love for the creative arts has constantly pulled him in all directions as he has practiced and excelled at visual arts, music and dance. A graduate from école catholique Samuel Genest and a local recording artist, Nick is currently studying Interactive Multimedia and Design at Carleton University. Though his mind is focussed on his education, his heart belongs to music and dance.
Nick started his dance journey as young teen in high school, amused at what music could inspire his body to create. At the age of 15, his love for the movement arts led him to join Future Shock and as his strength and drive quickly developed, joined Culture Shock Ottawa, where he was able to improve his dance skills. Nick always had a desire to lead. He founded dTALE, a dance crew which established his abilities as a leader and choreographer and earned him a position as Culture Shock Ottawa’s newest Artistic Director.
Nick has performed at high profile events including Winterlude, Canada Day, and a variety of shows for Ottawa’s number one radio station, the New Hot 89.9. Having showcased his choreography at many international shows in Canada and the United States, he has also taught workshops alongside international choreographers such as GIGI TORRES, HIROKA MCRAE (ABDC’s We Are Heroes) and Vinh Nguyen.
Nick’s passion to inspire and help others grow continues to spark his creativity. He is a true artist in constant need to polish, improve and master his craft.
